While Liverpool’s bid for Ajax striker Luis Suarez seemingly moved closer to becoming a reality on Tuesday, such was not the case for the pursuits of Anderlecht phenom Romelu Lukaku and Bayern Munich stalwart Mark Van Bommel, as both are set to sign elsewhere.

Lukaku, the 17-year-old striker heralded as “the new Didier Drogba,” was linked to Liverpool and claimed that he wanted to sign with a big Premier League side, but that club now appears to be Manchester City.

According to Belgian source Sport/Foot, Lukaku is set to move to Eastlands for £18 million (just under $29 million USD) in July. Anderlecht, though, is denying the story, saying “Romelu stays with Anderlecht for now. City? There is nothing on that yet.”

Lukaku was the leading scorer in Belgium last season, scoring 15 goals in 25 games.

“I know about Liverpool’s interest, but other offers are currently more interesting,” Van Bommel’s agent, Mino Raiola, said on Tuesday. The 33-year-old captain of the Dutch national team will instead sign an 18-month deal with Wolfsburg, according to Daily Mail.
