In order to meet Liverpool's £50 million asking price for Fernando Torres, Chelsea has been widely expected to include 31-year-old forward Nicolas Anelka as a makeweight in any deal, with the French international being valued in the £8 million range.

Anelka, though, apparently wants no part of a return to Anfield, where he spent a spell on loan in 2002.

According to SKY Sports, the Frenchman is fully settled at Stamford Bridge, where he is the team's top goal scorer this season, and is "prepared to fight for his place in Carlo Ancelotti's plans."

21-year-old Daniel Sturridge had previously been mentioned as a potential part of a Torres return package, but Liverpool's interest in the England Under-21 international is reportedly not so strong.

As a result, Chelsea may be forced to come to Liverpool with a straight-cash offer.

Regardless, it remains to be seen whether or not Roman Abramovic is willing to meet the record £50 million valuation in order to acquire the Liverpool talisman.
