Did Wes Welker intentionally try to take a shot at Rex Ryan for his embarrassing foot fetish incident? Probably.

Is Coach Ryan willing to lob a shot back through the media? Not this time.

Ryan was asked Friday if he’d like to respond to Welker’s foot references, and the coach did what he’s not typically prone to do. He declined comment.

“I think this is a huge rivalry type game and anything goes,” Ryan said. “I can take it. I’m not going to discuss it, but I can take it.”

The words “cross the line” have been used quite often this week, with Antonio Cromartie‘s declaration of hatred for quarterback Tom Brady sparking that conversation. Ryan was asked if Welker crossed the line, as the coach called the Internet foot videos a “personal matter” many times.

“I’m not getting into that,” he said. “Anything goes this week. That’s the way it is.”

Though Ryan didn’t ignite any wars of words, he did offer a tinge of his usual confident self.

“The hay is in the barn. We’re ready. We are ready to go,” he said. “We’re making that trip up and we’re going to show up. I guarantee you that. For anybody who thinks it’s going to be the same exact outcome that it was last time, I don’t think that’s true. I don’t believe that’s a fact.”
