Patriots coach Bill Belichick declined direct comment this week on Wes Welker‘s now infamous “foot news conference.” On Sunday, the head coach’s actions spoke louder than words.

CBS Sports reported at the opening of their telecast for New England’s divisional round matchup with the Jets that Welker has been suspended for at least the start of the Sunday’s game in Foxboro. The suspension is presumably for Welker’s comments to the media during the week in which he referenced feet a handful of times, seemingly as a jab at Jets head coach Rex Ryan.

Welker received the Jets’ first punt, and then his benching lasted one series. The wide receiver was back on the field with the Patriots’ offense the second time New England had the ball.
