Vote: Will the Celtics and Lakers Meet in the NBA Finals? When the Lakers and Celtics meet, the basketball world tends to stop and watch — and rightfully so.

In just about every season, either the C's or Lakers are expected to do some postseason damage and luckily for hoops fans, both first-place squads are once again on a collision course to meet with rings on the line.

Beginning back in 1959 when the Lakers were based out of Minneapolis, the teams have met in the NBA Finals 12 times with the C's winning nine of those best-of-seven battles. Boston owns a 43-41 head-to-head Finals record, but it's the Lakers who have had the last laugh as they topped Boston last summer and in three of their last four Finals tilts.

This year, the path to the Finals for both teams isn't as smooth as it might have been in seasons past. The Lakers must get through a fierce Spurs club, as well as a Kevin Durant-led Thunder squad. Once again, the C's will have to get through LeBron James — but this time, the King has Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in his corner.
