Aaron Hernandez Says He's Undergone Offseason Hip Surgery Aaron Hernandez was the youngest player on an NFL roster last season, but he didn't let that stop him from becoming one of Tom Brady's favorite targets. He had 45 catches for 563 yards and six touchdowns, but he sat out the final two regular-season games with a hip injury and had just one catch for four yards in the Patriots' lone playoff game.

While the extent of the hip issue was not fully known, it's now been revealed that the tight end said he recently underwent hip surgery, according to the Hartford Courant.

Hernandez made an appearance on crutches in Connecticut at his brother's youth football camp, and when asked by the camp members what happened to his leg, he told them he had hip surgery.

Despite the injury that nagged him for much of the year, Hernandez, 21, finished third on the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
