Gilbert Arenas was once so beloved in the nation’s capital to be immortalized in wax.
Then, Agent Zero/Hibachi got injured, brought some guns to the locker room, stopped being that good at basketball, got replaced by John Wall and finally was traded to the Orlando Magic earlier this season.
Since coming to Orlando, things haven’t really looked up. He’s averaged just 8.7 points per game for the Magic.
Arenas was likely pretty nervous about his impending Wizards homecoming as his Magic took on the Heat on Thursday, but it was actually that game that proved to to be the more treacherous for Hibachi.
During halftime, Arenas was served with official child custody and support papers to the tune of $1.3 million dollars annually.
Laura Mendoza Govan, an ex-girlfriend of Arenas’, is seeking payment for three children fathered by Arenas that have been “financially cut off” and an unborn child too.
“She got served, so now she wants to say something on TV, that’s all it is. I don’t pay attention to it. My lawyer said I can take it because … it’s just reactions to reactions,” said Arenas regarding the incident.
“I don’t pay much attention to it because this is who she is as a person,” he said. “It’s sad that it has to be in the public’s eye. She gets money. I mean when a girl asks for $100,000 a month and you say no, that doesn’t mean you’re cut off. You’re still getting 20. … That’s the thing that bothers me. She tells the world that she’s not getting money. She gets $20,000 a month.”
A hearing regarding the incident is set for March 9.
