The Celtics caught everyone by surprise Thursday afternoon with their unexpected trade of Kendrick Perkins, and they followed it up minutes later with another deal.

The Celtics have traded backup big man Semih Erden and Luke Harangody to Cleveland in exchange for a second-round draft pick, according to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnaroski.

Erden, 24, showed signs early this season that he could contribute at center, but injuries sidetracked his season. He’s played just 11 total minutes since Jan. 30, and he’ll eventually need shoulder surgery.

Harangody, a 23-year-old rookie out of Notre Dame, appeared in just 28 games, averaging 2.3 points and two rebounds.
