Adrian Gonzalez has yet to play a game at Fenway Park, but negotiations to keep him with Boston past this season are moving in a positive direction.

Gonzalez's agent John Boggs met with Theo Epstein on Tuesday afternoon after having lunch with his client, ESPN.com reports, and came out of the meeting with a positive report.

"As expected, we had a very positive meeting with Theo," Boggs revealed. "At the end of the day, everything's been as expected. We sat down and discussed where basically Adrian's at. I think it's just going to move very positively."

According to the report, the two sides had not discussed the contract extension since early December when the negotiations were first raised. Boggs said he and Epstein basically picked up where they left off from those meetings, now that the Red Sox have had some time to evaluate Gonzalez's play after coming back from offseason shoulder surgery.

"The main thing is the health issue," Boggs said of the continued negotiations. "When they've seen him play every day, I think they're going to have a degree of comfort, and that's probably when they're going to get something done."

Reports have surfaced that Adrian Gonzalez and the Sox have neared an agreement on a seven-year, $154 million deal, but the negotiations have not reached a point where numbers have been established. Boggs has an idea, however, for the deal's estimated timetable.

"I would anticipate something in April," Boggs said. "When in April? I don't know. It could be the beginning, middle, end. That's really the parameters. If something drags it on past that, then yeah, we'd probably have to revisit a lot of things, but I don't anticipate that at all."
