Mike Vick’s High School Jersey Sparks Controversy, Facebook Battle (Video)

Until his 2007 conviction, Mike Vick‘s jersey was on display in the halls of his high school, Warwick High School, in Newport News, Va.

In light of his comeback season — and change in character — students at Warwick High have rallied in the hundreds to have his jersey rehung. The school has denied that request, according to the Virginia Pilot, citing that they didn’t want the item to become a distraction — perhaps the subject of theft or vandalism.

As a result of the decision, Facebook campaigns for and campaigns against re-hanging the jersey have surfaced, with each gathering support in the hundreds.

According to TMZ, which first reported the story, the decision is not set in stone, and Vick’s jersey could return to its place of honor in the future.
