There may not yet be a resolution to the National Football League lockout, but the NFL draft will be happening in two weeks, with or without confirmation of an upcoming football season.

The NFL draft is at Radio City Music Hall in New York on April 28, 29 and 30.

Just a state over in Connecticut, three Yale senior football players — Shane Bannon, Tom McCarthy and Chris Blohm — are working out for pro scouts in pro day events and private showcases, hoping to increase their chances of hearing their names called in the 2011 draft, according to a press release from Yale's athletic department.

Connecticut native Bannon is a 6-foot-2 combination player who has the ability to play tight end, h-back or fullback if drafted to the NFL. He is coming off a season in which he started every game and had a career-best 13 catches at h-back. So far, Bannon has worked out for the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs, with plans for a pre-draft visit to the Green Bay Packers this week.

McCarthy, the 6-foot-6 2010 Yale captain, earned first-team All-Ivy honors playing defensive end last season, leading the Bulldogs team with four sacks. He has a tryout with the New York Giants this week.

Blohm, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound tight end from San Francisco, Calif., will work out for the San Francisco 49ers next week. As Yale's starting TE, he made 26 catches and earned second-team All-Ivy honors.

The Bulldogs haven't had a player drafted on draft day since 2004, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Nate Lawrie in the sixth round (181st overall), and the last time multiple Yale players were selected in the same draft was in 2001 when Eric Johnson (San Francisco) and Than Merrill (Minnesota) were taken consecutively in the seventh round.
