As he approaches the mid-point of May, Adrian Gonzalez has set himself up to have one of the finest offensive showings for one month in team, and baseball, history, and has put himself on pace to land at or near the top of several leaderboards. Here is a look at some of the scenarios surrounding Gonzalez's incredible onslaught through the first two weeks of May:

•    With eight homers in the first 13 games of the month, Gonzalez is on pace to hit 18.5 in the 30-game stretch. The American League record for one month is 18, held by Detroit's Rudy York in 1937. The major league record for home runs by a left-handed hitter in one month is 17, owned by Babe Ruth (1927) and Barry Bonds (2001).

•    Bonds' 17 also came in May, which makes that the major league record for this month. Mickey Mantle set the AL mark for home runs in May with 16 back in 1956.

•    The Red Sox record for home runs in one month is 14, accomplished by Jackie Jensen in June 1958 and David Ortiz in July 2006. The record for May is held by Jim Rice, who hit 13 in 1978.

•    With home runs in four straight games, Gonzalez is a game shy of tying the franchise mark, held by five players: Jimmie Foxx (1940), Ted Williams (1957), Dick Stuart (1963), George Scott (1977) and Jose Canseco (1995).

•    With 19 RBIs in the first 13 games of the month, Gonzalez is on pace for 44, which would eclipse Williams' team record of 41, set in May 1942, and tie the major league mark set by Cy Williams of the Philadelphia Phillies in 1925. Williams reached the 40-RBI mark in a month twice in his career. Clyde Vollmer is the only other Red Sox player to do so when he had 40 in July 1951. Ty Cobb owns the AL mark for the month of May with 43 in 1923.

•    With six home runs through his first 19 games on the road, Gonzalez is on pace for 26 away from Fenway Park. Ortiz (twice) and Williams are the only Boston hitters to ever have that many road home runs in a single year.
