Clay Buchholz's Impressive Victory Over Yankees Earns Him Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors Allowing only a Russell Martin two-run home run in seven innings of work at Yankee Stadium, Clay Buchholz not only improved to 4-3 for the season, but he also lowered his season ERA to under 4.00.

After compiling a 5.33 ERA during the first month of the season, Buchholz has been lights out in May. In his three May outings, the 26-year-old has given up just four runs in 18 2/3 innings of work, good for a 1.93 ERA.

Still, it will take quite a few more dominant outings for Buchholz to lower his season mark near last season's 2.33 level.

Another encouraging sign for Buchholz on Friday, though, was his strikeout total. For the first time this season, Buchholz fanned more than a handful of opponents in an outing, striking out seven Yankees hitters.

Add it all up, and Buchholz is a deserving winner of this week's Amica Pitcher of the Week award.
