After the Red Sox' World Series victory in Fenway Park's 1912 inaugural season, the team regressed in 1913, falling to fourth place in the American League.

The venue, though, continued to move forward. Fenway's size made it an attractive venue for teams other than the Sox, and the National League's Boston Braves chose to play their double-headers there over their own home, the South End Grounds.

High school baseball and football teams drew large crowds at Fenway as well, and to accommodate the park's success, architect James McLaughlin opened the Fenway Garage behind the park's right- and center-field bleachers.
