Liverpool has long been linked to Spanish defender Jose Enrique, and many have even regarded his move to Anfield as a "done field." But the 25-year-old has not only denied having had negotiations with the club, but it appears as though it has company in its pursuit.

Enrique is now being targeted by French giants Olympique Lyon, according to talkSPORT.co.uk.

Enrique has made 128 appearances at Newcastle since joining the club in 2007. He has said that he is "calm" at Newcastle, but he aspires to play on the Spanish National Team, which could require a move to a bigger club.

Lyon already has a stellar left-back in Ahly Cissokho, but he may leave for Inter Milan this summer, leaving a void that the club would need filled.

Eighteen-year-old John Flanagan has had a strong season for Liverpool, but manager Kenny Dalglish appears to want someone more experienced.
