Ty Warren Graduating From Texas A&M Friday, Preparing for Life After Football

Patriots defensive end Ty Warren can do it all.

The Super Bowl champion will earn his long-awaited degree on Friday from Texas A&M, according to the Boston Herald.

"I feel real good about getting that done and being able to walk up on that stage,” Warren told the Boston Herald. "It means something to finally have [that degree]."

Warren sacrificed his $250,000 workout bonus last offseason to attend classes at Texas A&M and work toward his degree in agricultural leadership and development. He did it to show his children a lesson in hard work and dedication, and his wife and kids stayed with him on campus.

Though Warren received some criticism for the choice last year — and Bill Belichick didn't appear to be overly excited when asked about Warren's endeavor — he said during minicamp that "it wasn't tough" to make the decision to go back to school.

And as it turned out, Warren's reasoning turned out to be fairly prophetic.

"I think the lockout situation had a lot to do with it," Warren said last June. "If a lockout was to happen, I'm not the type of person to sit out, sit back and go on 10 vacations if I'm not playing football. I'm the type of person [who will] work regardless. I've had the opportunity to go back to A&M to do some things.

"My thing is this: I've had offers to do things, but I don’t want to [earn a business opportunity] just because I'm a Super Bowl champion, New England Patriot, former A&M Aggie," he added. "I want to have credentials when I go in there. I'm the type of player, I want to earn what I got. You know what I'm saying? I don’t want to be there and be working just because. If a lockout was to happen, I have my degree and [would] be working with my credentials doing what I like to do."
