It's not often that the general public will take Sean Avery's side in a public disagreement. However, Uptown Sports Management may be giving people reason to take the New York Rangers agitator's side on something.
Uptown, a company that represents a handful of NHL players, including Nashville's Mike Fisher, used its Twitter account to criticize Avery's support of same-sex marriage in New York.

Avery is a part of the Human Rights Campaign's New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign, and he recently filmed a video in which he spoke about how he supports same-sex marriage in New York.
In a phone interview with The New York Times, Avery explained that his time in both Los Angeles and New York have helped him become accepting of multiple lifestyles.
"The places I've played and lived the longest have been in West Hollywood, Calif., when I played for the L.A. Kings, and when I moved to New York, I lived in Chelsea for the first four years," he told the Times. "I certainly have been surrounded by the gay community. And living in New York and when you live in L.A., you certainly have a lot of gay friends.
"I'm certainly open to it," he said in support of his gay friends. "Maybe I can help, and I jumped at this opportunity."
See Avery's video for HRC below. Although Avery's "I treat everyone the way I expect to be treated," line may bring some eye rolling because of the way he plays on the ice, his overall point is surely to be well received by most.
