Clay Buchholz's Seven Solid Innings Versus Blue Jays Earns Him Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors The Red Sox have won eight in a row, and while their offense has been tremendous, their starting pitching has been solid as well. Despite dealing with back issues, Clay Buchholz was especially good this week.

Buchholz was slated to face the Yankees on Wednesday night but had his start pushed back to Friday due to lingering back problems. Everything worked out, though, as the Sox completed a sweep in the Bronx and Buchholz returned with a solid performance against the Blue Jays.

Buchholz went seven innings, allowing only one run on three hits while striking out six. It was a textbook performance by the right-hander, who kept the potent Blue Jays offense in check while the Sox offense put five runs on the board.

He threw 100 pitches — 62 for strikes — and picked up the win, which improved his record to 5-3 for the season. It was his first win since May 13, as he had been a part of four straight no-decisions. Buchholz lowered his ERA to 3.59 in the victory.
