Willie McGinest already said he wants to sign one more contract so that he can retire a New England Patriot. On Tuesday, Ty Law echoed the sentiments of his long-time teammate.
"I said, 'It's time to call it a career.' But hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to officially retire as a Patriot. That's my ultimate goal right now," Law said at "The Tradition" at the TD Garden, The Boston Globe reports.
Owner Robert Kraft presented Law, who started his NFL career with the Patriots and played with them for 10 years, with the football legacy award. Kraft said Law was one of his favorites and "will always be a Patriot."
Law said he never held any negative feelings toward the Patriots, even after his departure.
"When we played against each other, it was competition there, most definitely, but never any animosity because when you strip everything down, I was always a Patriot to the core and I will always be," Law said.
No. 24 was a part of all three Super Bowl-winning Patriots teams.
"… That's one of the reasons I haven't officially turned my papers in because I would like to at least say the last contract I sign was with New England and that would be an honor if I was able to do that. If Mr. Kraft was to bless me with something like that, that would be the icing on the cake for a 15-year career," Law told the Globe.
