In a pre-emptive move to curtail rowdy celebrations, the city of Vancouver has cracked down on alcohol sales before Monday night's Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.
According to The Canadian Press, government and private liquor stores in downtown Vancouver have been instructed to close one hour before the puck drops at TD Garden in Boston. In addition, law enforcement officials will be checking on bars and restaurants to ensure they are not overcrowded.
Vancouver Fire Department Capt. Gabe Roder said two clubs could face charges after their establishments had more than double the allowed capacity for Friday night's Game 5.
Once again, some city streets will be blocked off to allow fans to watch the game on big-screen televisions in public gatherings.
