Bill Russell Statue to Be Installed in Boston’s City Hall Plaza in Spring of 2012

Well, it's about time.

Boston Celtics center Bill Russell will receive his much deserved statue in Boston's City Hall Plaza in the spring of 2012, Mayor Thomas Menino announced Monday, the Boston Globe reports.

Three artists — Fern Cunningham, Ann Hirsch and Antonio Tobias Mendez — will compete for the right to design the statue.
