Celtics’ 2011-12 Schedule Released, Highlighted by Christmas Day Showdown With Knicks

Although there may be no NBA until the calender turns to 2012, it didn't stop the Association from releasing the 2011-12 schedule in its entirety.

It seems pointless talking about the potential of games that may not happen, but it's also pointless to examine two players from different eras and that doesn't stop sports fans from doing it everyday.

With that said, let's look at the highlights of the (hopefully) upcoming 2011-12 schedule for the Boston Celtics.

The C's start the season off against the Eastern Conference doormat, as they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Nov. 2. It will be our first time seeing 2011 No. 1 overall pick Kyrie Irving in action, and it will be his first time seeing one of the many superior point guards in the league in 2011 in Rajon Rondo.

On the Nov. 11, Celtics fans get their one chance to see the Blake Show, as Blake Griffin and the Clippers make their annual visit to Beantown.

A week later, Celtics have their first shot at avenging last season's Eastern Conference semifinals loss to the Miami Heat, as they take their talents to South Beach to kick off a grueling back-to-back, with the Magic on the tail end of the two games.

The NBA gave C's fans another Christmas present, allowing fans to watch the Celts underneath the holly and in between the scraps of wrapping paper, as they take on the Knicks at the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

On Jan. 11, the Celtics get their first shot at the reigning world champions, as the Mavericks visit the TD Garden to take on the 2008 champs.

The always-entertaining Thunder come to Beantown five days later, as Jeff Green (if he is re-signed) and former Celtic center Kendrick Perkins take on their former clubs for the first time.

Lastly, the Lakers make their way to Boston on Feb. 9, re-igniting the latest edition of the Lakers-Celtics rivalry.
