Any baseball team looking to add royalty to their squad better get off their high horse as the Seattle Mariners are insistent that they will not trade their ace, Felix Hernandez.

According to ESPN.com, Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik won't even trade last year's AL Cy Young award winner for the farm.

"You can say nine guys," Zduriencik told ESPN.com. "You could say 12 guys. What does it matter? The deal is we have a guy who we relish. We want to get to a point where we are competitive and as good as any club in baseball. To get to that point, you have to have top-of-the-rotation starters. We've got it. Your best asset, you ought to keep, and that is what we intend to do."

King Felix has been a target of the Yankees for over a year now, but it appears the front office of the Mariners understand the asset they have, and they don't plan on giving that up.

"You start with pitching and build around that," Zduriencik said. "It is a tough commodity to give up. You might get some good players. You might get volume. It is very difficult to replace that guy. And Felix is that guy."

Hernandez is 8-9 this season with a 3.47 ERA. In his Cy Young season last year, the 25-year-old went 13-12 with a 2.27 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.
