Red Sox Foundation Announces Auction Items for Sixth Annual Picnic in the Park Fundraiser

Eleven items will be up for auction at the sixth annual Picnic in the Park fundraiser presented by Ace Ticket.

Fans who attend the charity event on Sunday, July 24 will be able to bid on 11 unique items and experiences. All proceeds from the event and the auction will go towards two Red Sox Foundation charities, the Red Sox Scholars and Red Sox RBI and Rookie League inner city youth baseball programs.

The top items up for auction include a VIP set visit to the hit TV show Mad Men, a hitting lesson with Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and a lounger autographed by the Red Sox 2007 World Series team.

Other items include a pitching lesson with starter Clay Buchholz, a 30-minute fielding lesson with second baseman Dustin Pedroia, an opportunity to play video games with closer Jonathan Papelbon, and many more. The full list of auction items is avaialable on redsox.com/picnic.

This year the bidding is now open to fans who cannot attend the event in person but would still like an opprtunity to bid on items. Fans can submit a proxy bid on redsox.com/picnic, via email to picnic@redsox.com or via telephone at 617-226-6440. Proxy bidders will be asked to specify their highest bid amounts and will be represented at the live auction by a member of the Red Sox Foundation who will bid on their behalf up to their maximum limit.

Online auctioning for the VIP visit to the set of Mad Men, hitting lesson with Gonzalez and the autographed lounger will close at noon Friday, July 22. The top three online bidders for each item will be contacted by phone and email by the Red Sox Foundation and given a chance to participate in the live auction at the park via telephone.

Picnic in the Park is a fundraiser hosted by Red Sox players and their wives that takes place on the field at Fenway Park one hour after the Red Sox-Mariners game on July 24. Fans will enjoy a barbecue picnic, a chance to get autographs from Red Sox players and the opportunity to bid on auction items.
