FOXBORO, Mass. — Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth, linebacker Brandon Spikes and wide receiver Brandon Tate headlined a list of 17 Patriots who did not suit up for Thursday's preseason opener against the Jaguars.

Cornerback Ras-I Dowling, running back Kevin Faulk, safety James Sanders, running back Eric Kettani, safety Josh Barrett, offensive lineman Marcus Cannon, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell, offensive lineman Dan Connolly, offensive lineman Chris Morris, defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick, left tackle Matt Light, defensive lineman Shaun Ellis, defensive lineman Ron Brace and defensive lineman Mike Wright were also absent. Faulk was on the field in sweats.

None of the absences were surprising, considering each player in the group has been dealing with injury issues that have kept them out of practice.
