FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots held a walkthrough Saturday for their 21st and final practice of training camp, and while it was a slow day on the field, there was a lot of activity on the injury front.

Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth did not participate in practice, but he watched from the sideline in a jersey and a baseball hat. It was the first time he had been spotted since he last practiced Aug. 4.

The Patriots got another boost with their defensive front, as Shaun Ellis was activated from the physically unable to perform list and practiced for the first time with New England.

Wide receiver Brandon Tate, wide receiver Julian Edelman and safety James Sanders also participated in the walkthrough. Tate and Edelman were returning kickoffs, which was a good sign that they've recovered from their respective ailments and could be ready to practice at full speed when they take the field again Monday.

Safety James Ihedigbo and linebacker Ricky Brown also debuted at practice after signing within the last 24 hours.

The news wasn't all good, though, as the Patriots were without 22 players at Saturday's session. Running back Stevan Ridley, cornerback Leigh Bodden, safety Bret Lockett, cornerback Darius Butler, running back Danny Woodhead, linebacker Dane Fletcher and tight end Lee Smith were all absent after fully participating for the last week.

Wide receiver Taylor Price, running back Shane Vereen, safety Josh Barrett, cornerback Malcolm Williams, running back Eric Kettani, linebacker Jeff Tarpinian, linebacker Brandon Spikes, offensive lineman Marcus Cannon, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell, defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick, linebacker Jermaine Cunningham, defensive lineman Ron Brace and defensive lineman Mike Wright were also missing.

Cornerback Ras-I Dowling and running back Kevin Faulk were present but did not participate.
