FOXBORO, Mass. — One of Devin McCourty's most spectacular interceptions came last Thanksgiving in Detroit, where he ran stride for stride with Calvin Johnson before high-pointing the ball to steal it from the Lions wide receiver. It changed the pace of the game and sparked a 35-7 run that propelled the Patriots to their ninth victory of the season.

The two Pro Bowlers will square off again Saturday in Motown for each team's third preseason game, and McCourty is excited for the challenge.

"Yeah, he's a great receiver," McCourty said. "So anytime I think you go out there, you've got to prepare and be ready to go when you've got a guy of his caliber, especially the physical talents that he has."

Johnson had four receptions for 81 yards and one touchdown against New England, though his scoring grab came with Kyle Arrington in coverage. McCourty had a career-high two interceptions in the victory, but his second came on a throw that was intended for Nate Burleson.

"[Johnson was] tough; anytime I was on him, it was tough," McCourty said. "You've got to be prepared. He's a guy who can stretch you vertical down the field, and he's a guy that will make big amazing catches. Anytime I lined up to him, it was kind of tough."
