ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Patriots rookie cornerback Ras-I Dowling won't play Sunday against the Bills due to a hip injury that he suffered last week against the Chargers.

Dowling was stretching on the field with the medical staff around 10:30 a.m., which indicated he was a game-time decision. He's the third defensive starter who won't play against the Bills, who led the NFL in scoring through two weeks.

The Patriots already announced defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth (back), safety Patrick Chung (hand), tight end Aaron Hernandez (knee), tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back), wide receiver Taylor Price (hamstring) and defensive lineman Mike Wright (concussion) were inactive against the Bills.

Dowling, Haynesworth, Chung and Hernandez are all missing their first games of the season. Price has yet to play in 2011, giving him 19 scratches in 20 career games, including the playoffs. It's the second time Vollmer and Wright haven't played this season.

Seven Patriots will dress for the first time this season. Quarterback Ryan Mallett, running back Shane Vereen, safety Ross Ventrone and linebacker Jeff Tarpinian will make their NFL debuts.

Defensive lineman Landon Cohen, cornerback Phillip Adams and offensive lineman Ryan Wendell will make their 2011 debuts with the Patriots. Linebacker Gary Guyton will dress after missing last week's game with a hamstring injury.
