Rob Ninkovich Remembers 2010 Trip to Miami As Springboard for Himself, Patriots

FOXBORO, Mass. — Linebacker Rob Ninkovich will always fondly remember the Patriots' 2010 victory in Miami on Monday Night Football, but he didn't want to take a stroll down Memory Lane on Wednesday.

Ninkovich, who played for the Dolphins in 2007 and part of 2008, had a breakout performance last season with five tackles, two interceptions and one sack during New England's 41-14 win.

"I think it was a good game for me," Ninkovich said. "I went out there and made a couple good plays, but that's over with now, so I've got to focus on this year and try to improve on what we've done in the preseason. Hopefully, we can start the season off well."

It was also a breakout game for the Patriots, who broke out of their shell on defense and held onto a fourth-quarter lead in a road game, which was a monstrous problem in 2009. Ninkovich is hoping this week's trip to Miami can serve as another springboard.

"Last year at this time, I think it was Week 4, we went down there and we had a good game against them," Ninkovich said. "Now we're just trying to repeat that performance and have another solid year."
