Patriots wide receiver Taylor Price has been hampered by a minor injury since the team's preseason opener, and it sounds like he didn't play Thursday against the Giants for the purposes of rest and maintenance.

Of course, if the Patriots were comfortable sitting him for precautionary reasons, it would be a good indication that they're comfortable with his progress in his second season.

Price had five receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown in the preseason opener against the Jaguars and shined in training camp. He was inactive for 16 of the Patriots' 17 games last season, including the playoff loss to the Jets, so this was an important summer for him.
