FOXBORO, Mass. — Friday will mark the 10-year anniversary of quarterback Tom Brady's first career start.

It was a memorable game, for sure, particularly while putting Brady's decade-long run in perspective. The Patriots rocked the previously undefeated Colts, 44-13, in Week 3 at Foxboro Stadium to pick up their first victory of the season.

Brady completed 13 of 23 passes for 168 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. Cornerbacks Ty Law and Otis Smith returned interceptions for touchdowns, running backs Antowain Smith and Kevin Faulk each scored on the ground and Adam Vinatieri kicked three field goals. It was the type of complementary game that embodied the Patriots' 2001 season.

Brady was asked Wednesday if he remembered his first start, and he kind of shook it off, saying, "It was a long time ago. Yeah, I don't even remember."

Maybe Brady was lying to avoid addressing the topic. Or maybe he was so wrapped up in his regular-season routine that the thought really didn't cross his mind. The latter is probably more likely, considering his later response.

"Yeah, we beat the Chargers," he guessed.

See, he doesn't remember.
