While playing overseas has become a popular way to overcome the NBA lockout, it isn’t the only solution.

Amar’e Stoudemire of the New York Knicks said the players, who have already spoken of starting a new league, have started to formulate a plan to create their own if the lockout eliminates the 2011-12 season, ESPN reports.

“It’s very, very serious,” Stoudemire said. “It’s just a matter of us strategically coming up with a plan, a blueprint and putting it together,” he said. “So we’ll see how this lockout goes. If it goes one or two years, then we’ve got to start our own league.”

NBA commissioner David Stern has already canceled the first two weeks of the season.
