Arsenal Defender Bacary Sagna Out Three Months After Leg Break Already in the midst of a defensive crisis, Arsenal's problems at the back just got worse. 27 year-old right fullback Bacary Sagna has been ruled out until the new year after falling awkwardly and breaking his fibula during Sunday's 2-1 loss at Tottenham. The Guardian reports Sagna was stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital, where the extent of the damage was revealed.

"The doctor of the France team, Fabrice Bryand, was informed by Arsenal of a fracture to the right fibula of Bacary Sagna," read a statement released by the French Soccer Federation. "The player was hurt during the match lost 2-1 by his club against Tottenham on Sunday. The defender will be operated on and is not expected to be available for three months."

Sagna was hoping to join the French national team for a pair of Euro 2012 qualifying games against Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday and Tuesday respectively.

He joined Arsenal in the summer of 2007 from French club Auxerre and has been Arsene Wenger's first-choice right back since arriving at the club. The inexperienced Carl Jenkinson will likely take Sagna's place in the team during his recovery.

Arsenal's defensive woes have been a major factor in the club's recent struggles. It has taken seven points from its first seven games, and conceded a league-high 14 goals during that span. The next closest team in that department is newly-promoted Swansea City, which has conceded nine times.
