He's not your Vydas. He's not my Vydas. He's our president of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation.

Arvydas Sabonis, considered one of the great all-around players in basketball history despite injuries and other factors that limited him to just 470 career NBA games, was unanimously elected president of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, Lithuanian basketball announced.

"It's interesting where life brings us," Vladas Garastas, whom Sabonis succeeds, was quoted as saying on LKF's website. "I couldn't have imagined that I'd be congratulating a man who I started coaching back in 1982 when he came to Zalgiris with being elected the new president of the Federation."

Sabonis focused on promoting youth and women's basketball in his pre-election speech, according to LKF. He also talked about developing sponsorships to improve the econimic state of basketball in the country.
