Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson sent out a letter to the 1,900 United supporters with tickets to the Red Devils match against Liverpool, urging fans to be respectful and comply with stewards while at Anfield.
So far this season, United's ticket allocation has been reduced for matches at Leeds United, Bolton Wanderers, and now Liverpool, after United supporters have garnered a reputation for failing to comply with the stadium regulations of the home side. Infractions include refusing to sit/stand in assigned seats, blocking aisles and refusing to cooperate with stadium stewards.
Despite United's best attempts, the club was unable to secure more seats for its supporters, and the Reds certainly won't mind adding a few more home fans to what promises to be a raucous Anfield crowd.
"Despite intense lobbying by the club on your behalf, there will only be just over 1,900 United fans at Anfield," wrote Ferguson.
"We can't allow this situation to continue. I've said many times that your support is a vital part of our success and, trust me, the players do notice when your numbers are cut.
"In order to give the club the chance of restoring our allocations around the League, I'd ask that you cooperate with clubs we visit by; Going to the seat that you've bought, not blocking aisles and gangways, respecting the stewards and following the ground regulations at each stadium."
Liverpool will be hoping to pick up where they left off the last time United visited Anfield, as the Reds turned in their best performance of the year in a 3-1 demolition job.
And this was pretty good too.
