The NBA Players Association is taking its case directly to the fans in an effort to end the NBA lockout.

Derek Fisher, president of the players union, announced that he would start a Twitter campaign built around the slogan "LET US PLAY" on Monday. He tweeted the message Monday morning, along with the hashtag #StandUnited, which the union has been using since the owners imposed the lockout June 30.

Scoring champ Kevin Durant, Lakers center Andrew Bynum and Bulls forward Luol Deng also immediately tweeted the message to their followers.

The owners and players are meeting Monday in a last-ditch effort to prevent regular-season games from being cancelled. The league has said that it will cancel the first two weeks of the season, scheduled to begin Nov. 1, if an agreement is not reached by Monday night. All scheduled preseason games have already been axed.

Fisher's tweet appears below.
