NBC Sports will relocate its headquarters from New York City to Stamford, Conn., in order to take advantage of tax breaks, according to a Connecticut state official.

The deal, expected to be finalized some time next week, would be a part of Connecticut governor Dannel P. Malloy's signature development program, intended to consolidate various tax credits to lure five businesses that invest $25 million in the state and add 1,000 jobs over a five year span. Malloy has already agreed to deals with Cigna, ESPN and TicketNetwork Inc.

World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., Versus and TV productions for Jerry Springer, Steve Witkos and Maury Povich currently call Stamford home.

Malloy and NBC Sports' spokesman Chris McCloskey declined to comment on the matter.
