Jets head coach Rex Ryan was talking about winning Super Bowls yet again on Wednesday. This time, he was thinking about what could've been had he been hired by the San Diego Chargers in 2007.

"Well, I think I would've had a couple of rings," Ryan laughed in a conference call with the San Diego media, according to NBC San Diego. "I'm tellin' ya. Those teams were loaded. There's no question about it. But things happen for a reason. Obviously, Norv Turner has done a great job there, and A.J. [Smith] and everybody.

"That's a great franchise, and he's probably the best guy for the job at that time."

While it might sound like Ryan was taking a shot at the Chargers and Turner, it apparently wasn't his intention. He later called Turner to make sure the comments weren't taken as an insult, according to The Star-Ledger.

Ryan interviewed for the Chargers' head coaching job in 2007, but Smith, San Diego's general manager, gave the job to Turner. Ryan would later be hired by the Jets in 2009 and beat the Chargers in the playoffs that season.

The Jets host the Chargers this Sunday.
