Sporting News magazine announced on Tuesday that Dallas-Forth Worth is the "Best Sports City" in the country.

Thanks to the Mavericks' NBA Championship, the Rangers' trip to the World Series, TCU's Rose Bowl victory, Texas Motor Speedway being a part of NASCAR's Chase for the Cup, MLS runner-up FC Dallas and the city's hosting of the Super Bowl, Dallas makes a strong case as the top sports city.

The criteria for the rankings were based on "won-lost records, postseason appearances, applicable power ratings, number of teams and attendance."

Boston comes in at No. 2 on the list. Philadelphia, Chicago and New York round out the top five.
