There was plenty of media in attendance for Terrell Owens' not-so-private workout. Not a single NFL team representative showed up to his public workout, though, according to NFL Network's Lindsay Soto via Shutdown Corner.
Perhaps the scouts were at home watching on TV, as NFL Network aired the workout live. Owens can only hope for so much, but he was positive after his workout.
"I'm not worried about the naysayers who say that I can't come back, that I'm wasting my time," he said to Soto after the workout. "I think what I showed today — it speaks for itself."
As for the naysayers, he doesn't have to worry about them. He should just be worrying about finding a team that will sign him. On that front, Owens remained upbeat.
"I definitely have faith in God that I'll land on my feet, regardless if there's any teams out here or not," he said. "I only need one team. I only need one chance."
Coming off offseason ACL surgery, Owens echoed the 2011 preseason sentiments of Patriots receiver Wes Welker and said to Soto, "Honestly, I probably feel better than how I did before I got hurt."
The difference is Welker is two years off surgery, and Owens isn't likely to challenge any receiving records this year.
The Tennessee Titans had shown interest in T.O. at first, but were nowhere to be found at the workout. Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has said that a tape of the workout will be sent to all 32 teams.
Owens has played for five teams in his NFL career, and every time it looks like he won't find work, he's proved everyone wrong. At this stage of the season, and with such a lack of interest, it looks like his playing days in the NFL may be done.
