Vince Wilfork Responds to Trash Talk From Struggling Cowboys Center Phil CostaFOXBORO, Mass. — Anyone who looks at Vince Wilfork and thinks "speed bump" might be an optometrist's dream.

Wilfork, the Patriots' 325-pound, three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman, was the surprising target of some trash talk this week out of Dallas. Cowboys center Phil Costa, who will get plenty of time in the trenches against Wilfork, tweeted that Wilfork is more of a speed bump than a mountain.

Wilfork laughed Friday when he was told about those comments.

"That's fine," Wilfork said. "I play on Sundays. I'm not a media guy, getting back and forth. I'll be there Sunday. He can tell me that then. I don't care about all that stuff."

Not to pile on here, but Costa probably shouldn't be the one doing the talking. He has struggled badly with his snaps this season, and during the Cowboys' Week 3 victory against the Redskins, quarterback Tony Romo was caught on camera berating Costa on the field. By reading Romo's lips, the quarterback appeared to tell Costa he was going to kill him if he had one more bad snap.

As for Wilfork, he returned to practice Friday after missing Thursday's session for non-injury-related reasons.

"Just had to handle some personal business," Wilfork said. "Everything is good. I'm ready to play Sunday."
