Bill Belichick wasn't eager Wednesday to speak at length about the Patriots' decision to sever ties with defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth, but the coach did express disappointment in letting the player go.
"I thought that both he and myself, to speak for the staff, we really tried to make it work," Belichick told reporters. "He had a few physical limitations to overcome when he got here. He tried to do what we asked him to do.
"In the end, it obviously just didn't work out. The best thing we can do is move on."
When pressed for more information on those physical limitations, Belichick declined further comment.
"That's all I have to say about it," he said. "I'll talk about the guys that are here and move on to the Jets."
When asked if he regretted trading a fifth-round pick to Washington could be considered a gamble.
"It's all done with, so, yeah. It's on to the Jets," Belichick said.
Belichick was also asked about the play of receiver Chad Ochocinco, but as is his usual strategy, the coach didn't specifically talk about any one player.
"I think everybody can do a better job. That includes everybody," he said. "There's things that we're doing well, we gotta do more of it, we gotta do it more consistently. That goes for everybody — whatever player you want to name, [and] I think I fall into that category."
