Jerry Sandusky is doing his own investigating in an attempt to clear his name in the midst of the child sex abuse case that has left his reputation ruined.

Sandusky's lawyer, Joe Amendola, said on Tuesday that the former Penn State assistant football coach has hired a private investigator with the hopes of proving his innocence, according to CNN.

Sandusky is being charged with 40 counts in relation to alleged sexual abuse of children over a 14-year period during which he was the defensive coordinator for Penn State.

The case is already being investigated by the district attorney and the university, and last week, the U.S. Department of Education launched its own investigation as well.
