Families across America will take to the backyard gridiron on Thursday to engage in their annual pick-up football games.
That will be the case in Baltimore, as well, but this year’s Harbaugh family game will have a little bit more at stake than your chance at retribution for Uncle Frank’s game-winning touchdown last year.
John Harbaugh and Jim Harbaugh will square off for the first time in their NFL coaching careers when John’s Baltimore Ravens squad hosts Jim’s San Francisco 49ers team in primetime.
It’s expected to be a good game, as both teams are near the top of their conferences, and you can bet that both brothers would love to come away with bragging rights.
“We have never had a fight as adults, maybe since we were 25 or something,” John told the Washington Post. “But we had some knock-down drag-outs when we were younger. I can remember my mom screaming, wailing and crying, ‘You’re brothers! You are not supposed to act like this!’ There are probably a lot of mothers out there that can relate to that.”
That’s true, John. However, there probably aren’t many mothers out there who can relate to having their sons square off in front of a national audience with playoff positioning on the line.
