Wondering how you’re going to finish all that leftover turkey after Thanksgiving? Maybe you can share it with friends while watching the Bruins take on the Red Wings.

The two Original Six teams will face off on “Black Friday,” and the NHL has partnered with Discover to unveil a float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in an effort to promote the game. The hope is that the league can generate some publicity for the Bruins-Red Wings “Thanksgiving Showdown” in a similar manner to how the league gets buzz around New Year’s Day for the Winter Classic.

“We are looking to build an entirely new platform around Thanksgiving and have it include not only a game broadcast but something more,” said David Lehanski, the NHL’s vice president of sales.

The league is planning a 720-square feet float for the Macy’s parade, with the theme of “Frozen Fall Fun.” Cee-Lo Green will perform live on the float, which is expected to also include past NHL stars, a fake ice rink and a 12-foot tall turkey that doubles as a hockey goal.
