FOXBORO, Mass. — Safety Patrick Chung returned to practice Friday after missing two days with a foot injury, which makes it more likely that he's able to play Sunday against the Jets.

Chung injured his foot in the fourth quarter against the Giants, and he said Friday he's hoping to be ready to play in the all-important AFC East showdown.

Linebacker Brandon Spikes (knee) did not practice all week after colliding with cornerback Kyle Arrington in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the Giants. Typically, if a player doesn't practice all week, head coach Bill Belichick will not play them in the ensuing game.

Offensive lineman Ryan Wendell was cleared to practice Friday after suffering a concussion Sunday. He missed two practices.

Linebacker Dane Fletcher was the only other player missing from Friday's session. He hasn't practiced since further injuring his thumb in Week 6 against the Cowboys, so he won't play for the third consecutive game.

The Patriots practiced in sweats and shells for the 24th time in 32 regular-season practices, not including walkthroughs.
