Dale Sveum was thought to be the lead candidate for the Boston Red Sox' vacant managerial position. Apparently, Sveum was the favorite for the Chicago Cubs as well.

Multiple reports indicated that Sveum has been offered the Cubs' job, as the former Brewers hitting coach and one-time Red Sox third base coach was in the running for both jobs.

Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman tweeted late Wednesday night that Sveum had gotten an offer from the Cubs, while Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported that the Sox have yet to make an offer.

Sveum has interviewed twice for both openings.
