Report: Josh Reddick Undergoes Wrist Surgery, Expected to Be Ready for Spring TrainingJosh Reddick may get the nod as starting right fielder for the Red Sox this season, but he'll have to make sure he's healthy before that happens.

Reddick reportedly underwent surgery on his left wrist to repair torn cartilage, but is expected to recover in time for spring training, according to ESPN. The Boston Globe confirmed the report, but indicated that it was in fact a torn ligament that Reddick had work done on.

Both reports indicated that the wrist had been bothering Reddick since early September, when he was hit on the wrist by a pitch against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Reddick had been playing in Taiwan during the offseason with a group of MLB players in an exhibition series, but reportedly felt discomfort in his wrist during those games. While initially it appears the damage to his wrist would heal on its own, Reddick reportedly went under the knife on Tuesday.

Following the surgery, he is expected to be sidelined three weeks then spend 4-6 weeks rehabbing. Reddick should be back in time to compete for a starting spot at spring training.
