The Red Sox will likely continue to be linked to a number of pitchers this offseason, as they try to improve their rotation and rebuild their bullpen. It now appears they've checked in on one Houston left-hander.

The Astros are getting more and more inquiries about the availability of Wandy Rodriguez, and the Sox are one of the teams that have called about the lefty, The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports.

Rodriguez, who turns 33 in January, is coming off a season in which he went 11-11 with a 3.49 ERA in 30 starts. He won a career-high 14 games in 2009, which was the same season that he compiled a career-best 3.02 ERA.

Rodriguez is currently in the midst of a three-year, $34 million deal with the Astros that he signed in January. The contract runs through 2013, and Houston has a $13 million club option for 2014.

The left-hander was the subject of trade rumors leading up to last season's trade deadline, though, so there exists the possibility that the rebuilding Astros could be willing to deal him.

In seven seasons with Houston, Rodriguez is 73-75 with a 4.07 ERA in 206 career games (197 starts).
