The Red Sox need to add some pitching help this offseason, and they could be making their first significant stride toward doing so.

On Wednesday, the Sox were scheduled to meet with agent Bob Garber, who represents both C.J. Wilson and Roy Oswalt, two of the most highly regarded starters on this year's free-agent market, WEEI.com's Alex Speier reports.

There's no indication the Sox are interested in either of the two hurlers at this time, or who exactly the Sox could be eyeing in their meeting with Garber, but it's a meeting that's certainly worth noting as the MLB's hot stove continues to heat up.

Wilson, who turns 31 on Friday, is seeking a six-year deal worth close to $120 million, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman. That could make the Sox a long-shot to land the lefty.

Wilson is coming off his best season, going 16-7 with a 2.94 ERA.

The 34-year-old Oswalt, meanwhile, put together a 9-10 record, along with a 3.69 ERA, during a 2011 campaign in which he battled through injuries. The right-hander is a three-time All-Star.

The Marlins are reportedly interested in both Wilson and Oswalt, Joe Capozzi of The Palm Beach Post reports.
